Semantics Utilised for Process management within and between EnteRprises
Project Highlights
- FP6 WorkProgram Objective: Semantic-based Knowledge and Content Systems
- EU funding: € 4,900,000
- Estimated effort: person-months 974
- Project web site: http://www.ip-super.org/
Project Goals
- Raise Business Process Management to the business level, where it belongs, from the IT level where it mostly resides now
- Development and validation of a methodological framework for Semantic Business Process Management, including user roles. The results are to foster the migration from "legacy" methods and techniques.
- Development of generic languages for the representation of atomic and composite processes, variants of business process models, and goal descriptions of various business experts' perspectives, including all aspects of systems behaviour, e.g. costs, cycle-times, dependencies, data flows, exception handling, time constraints, capacity and bandwidth limitations, etc.
- Development of techniques for the automated annotation of existing business processes, process fragments, IT components, etc.
- Development of process query techniques and languages.
- Adaptation of existing reasoners to the specific needs of SUPER.
- Development of industry-strength mediation techniques for the automated coupling between multiple business and IT perspectives.
- Enhancement of SWS foundations by learning from their deployment to large-scale testbeds
CEFRIEL Contribution
- Analysis and implementation of the semantic extension of RBE Methodology (Reverse Business Engineering)
- Semantic interoperability techniques over BPEL4WS (Business Process Execution Language for Web Services)
- Process composition to merge different processes
- Leading of showcase video
