Platforms for control and delivery of services in next generation networks

Project Goals

The project will study innovative telecom services, for service delivery on large bandwith networks, focusing on convergence between fixed-mobile phone networks, and on technologies for service creation, provisioning, and management.

Project participants are Politecnico di Torino and CEFRIEL.

The main project’s goal is the study and experimentation of innovative service delivery for fixed-mobile convergence based on IMS paltform; the complex IMS structure must be adapted and extended to provide a fixed access to fixed and mobile telecom operators.

The specific goals consist in implementing a prototype and in analysing the features offered by IMS system for "context-aware" application streaming, and, in general, in remote applications usage by means of a virtual access to different protocols compliant with IMS system.

Moreover the project will prepare recommendations and guidelines for evaluating performance impact on a service delivery platform, depending on the introduction of new services, like application streaming ones.

    CEFRIEL Contribution

    • Evaluation of application streaming and application-on-demand technologies
    • Development of a proof-of-concept demonstrator of application on demand services on IMS architecture
    • Study of application of the project results within the context of emergency scenarios

    Research Units

    • CEFRIEL
    • Politecnico di Torino
